I start with an intention from which intuition and conscious choices flow...

I have a passion for visualizing communication strategies that inspire audiences and make for better experiences.

I like to listen, collaborate and nurture. When I meet with a client I want to know about their challenges. What they are trying to achieve? By deeply understanding their situation I am better equipped to develop a creative and functional strategy —an approach that addresses their needs in engaging and memorable ways.

My strength lies in shaping the architecture of an experience and then giving it life in a visual form that is elegant and on brand. I am both a hands-on designer and also a creative facilitator. I have the expertise to guide a project from concept to completion and on through to subsequent phases of improvement.

I am interested in helping businesses, organizations and individuals reach their goals. If design lies at the intersection between commerce and culture, my objective is to contribute in a way that makes a positive difference.

I can help you realize a vision. Just ask my clients, bosses and colleagues.

Lana YU Self Portrait

Lana Yu, self-portrait

This self-portrait is a photographic study of how texture affects our perception of shape. I created each profile by sandwiching one slide of my face with another slide of an object, i.e. radishes, a plant, a hand-sewn quilt. The composited slides where then projected and photographed resulting in the images you see here.

Perceptually we notice shapes the most strongly, yet color and texture can signficantly affect how we perceive shape as this example shows. The facial features start to contort or flatten depending on the photographic or graphic overlay.
